100th Snack Review
Things I wasn't sure about
Hey 👋
Hope you’ve had / are having a nice break. This is my 101st Evidence Snack! In celebration, here’s a short video message to say a BIG THANK YOU for all your support and to reflect on the journey so far…
Little updates 🥕
Review of 15 studies on cognitive load theory → summary of special journal issue on the latest research around effective and efficient learning.
Study on how failure affects our brains → suggests it can boost learning but must be carefully managed to prevent stress, demotivation, or dropout.
Meta-analysis of the expertise reversal effect → finds that matching help to knowledge level boosts learning (but that giving support to novices is more important than withholding it from experts).
Paper on in-person vs remote literacy tutoring → finds no difference in learning: tutor expertise matters much more (although in-person students have better attendance).
Support the Snacks factory & get more researchy stuff → Learn about Snacks PRO
Stay true.
